I arrived!

Car, plane, bus, train and again car: Then I finally arrived where I have been wanting to be for such a long time already: In beautiful Koper where everything is a little smaller than what I am used to in Berlin. And that is exactly what I like so much about being here. People know each other, you don't get lost in town, you can reach everything going by foot… life just seems to go a little slower here, you have time to watch the colorful sunset above the sea while having a really good coffee in a bar. It really is beautiful here...

I had a good start. Pina is taking good care of me and they included me right into their team. No need to have worries about the work to come with a nice team like that!  : )

I was hoping to live together with at least a couple of others so I wouldn't be alone. What I got? Seven (!) other young people sharing the apartment with me, perfect! Integration couldn't work any better.

People here are very friendly, helpful and interested, but most of them also very surprised and confused about why I am here. »Come on, you're from Berlin! Such a big-exciting-awesome-multicultural-great-interesting-lively-fantastic-culturally-and-historically-rich city! Why Slovenia?! Why Koper?!?!« Well, why not?  : )

Before coming here for the EVS-programme, I have been to Koper several times already, each time discovering a little more of the »Slovenian Way of Life«. Sarma, Polenta, Fižolovka, Čokolešnik, Cedevita, Fruc, Cockta, Drinks made with syrup… No matter if those things originally come from Slovenia or not, it was here that I met them the first time, and when I see them I see Slovenia.

Ja, res, vesela sem, da sem zdaj v Kopru! Vem že, da bo eno lepo leto!  ; )

Projekt Evropske prostovoljne službe (European Voluntary Service - EVS) iz programa MLADI V AKCIJI, ti omogoča, da postaneš prostovoljec v drugi državi za obdobje od 6 do 12 mesecev.
